2023 F1 Calendar: A Mélange of Tradition and Transformation

The curtain rises, revealing the official Formula 1 calendar for the 2023 season. Encompassing 23 grand races, the F1 schedule promises a blend of timeless classics and thrilling new additions. Among the most anticipated is the Las Vegas Grand Prix, a nocturnal spectacle set to dazzle on a Saturday night.

Diving into the depths of the formula 1 schedule, one observes a balance of continuity and change. The Chinese Grand Prix, initially marking its grand comeback after a three-year hiatus, now stands cancelled. The lingering shadows of Covid-19 complexities within China steered this decision.

The GP F1 schedule witnesses Qatar carving its niche for the second time since its 2021 debut, securing its spot alongside the legendary Monaco and Spa circuits. Both of these have retained their places, quelling doubts about their future in the Formula 1 Grand Prix schedule.

However, dark clouds loomed over Emilia Romagna GP, quite literally. Adverse weather conditions leading up to the race weekend forced its cancellation from this year’s F1 schedule.

Ensuring a harmonious coexistence of global motorsport events, the 2023 Formula 1 schedule strategically evades a collision with the renowned 24 Hours Of Le Mans. This move comes as a testament to the World Motorsport Council’s commitment to optimizing every championship’s race calendar.

Speaking on this grand reveal, FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem commented, “The unveiling of 24 races on the 2023 FIA Formula One World Championship calendar speaks volumes of the sport’s escalating global allure. Both the integration of new venues and the preservation of traditional ones resonate with the FIA’s unwavering guidance over the sport. I beam with pride knowing that the Formula 1’s new epoch of riveting racing, birthed from the FIA’s 2022 Regulations, will reach an even more expansive fan base in 2023. In sculpting the GP F1 schedule, WMSC members have also paid homage to the esteemed 24 Hours of Le Mans.”
